Ryse Energy’s wind turbine technology, coupled with U-Solar’s solar and battery systems, will be used to power 3 islands off Jaffna, Sri Lanka.

March 4th, 2024 – In a landmark collaboration, Ryse Energy, the global leader in distributed renewable energy systems with over 180,000 installations across all seven continents, and U-Solar, one of India’s fastest-growing solar EPC and developers, have signed an agreement for the development of hybrid renewable energy systems on 3 islands off Jaffna, Sri Lanka.

Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera stated that under a full financial grant of USD 10.995 million extended by the Government of India, the islands of Delft, Analativu, and Nainativu will receive the hybrid renewable energy systems by March 2025.

Under the project 530 kW wind power, 1700 kW solar power, 2400 kWh battery power and 2500 kW of standby diesel power systems.

This ambitious project, launched in collaboration with the Indian Government, the Ministry of Power and Energy, and the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SLSEA), is a pioneering initiative in line with Sri Lanka’s sustainability goals. Acting as a pilot program, this venture is set to impact the renewable energy transition for Sri Lanka and the communities in the northern Jaffna district.

Alistair Munro, Founder & CEO of Ryse Energy commented:
